Core Beliefs
The following are the core beliefs of Durango Church of Christ based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.
God
The One who made the universe is a supernatural, personal being we call God. God is worthy of our respect and humble attention always.
Jesus
Jesus is the answer to the question, "What if God was one of us?" Jesus is God living the human experience. Through a variety of ways, God has shown that Jesus is God’s chosen leader everyone must follow.
The Bible
The Bible is a collection of special documents that provide true knowledge of the Creator. God has caused these things to be written and preserved as his primary way of communicating with all who would serve him.
The End
One thing God makes very clear in the Bible is that Jesus will return someday. He will be just as real and visible as he was when he walked the roads and trails of Judea long ago. This time, Jesus will come to judge everyone according to the Bible God has given us. God wishes that everyone would live by the Bible so that they will not be condemned at the time of judgment.
The Rescue
The Bible also teaches the good news that the judge himself — Jesus — has already made it possible to be saved from condemnation when he comes again. In his death on the cross, Jesus suffered the judgment for our sins against God. Everyone who repents and is baptized for the forgiveness of their sins benefits from this gift (Acts 2:38).
The Church
So, those who would be saved by Jesus and live according to his way meet regularly. Followers of Jesus must help each other to learn how to serve God in ways that please him.
